  • Ganciclovir ophthalmic is a topical antiviral drug used to treat herpes virus eye infections (herpes keratitis) in cats, horses, and other animals. Ganciclovir ophthalmic comes in ointment gel form.

  • Gentamicin + betamethasone ophthalmic is a steroid anti-inflammatory eye medication with antibiotic used for the treatment of external eye infections and inflammation of the eye in dogs. It is also sometimes used to manage pannus or pigmentary keratitis in dogs. It may be used off-label in cats and horses.

  • Glucosamine/chondroitin combination is a nutrient supplement that is given by mouth and is used to treat osteoarthritis and feline lower urinary tract disease. Give as directed by your veterinarian. Side effects are uncommon but may include gastrointestinal upset. Do no use in pets that are allergic to it. If a negative reaction occurs, please call your veterinary office.

  • Griseofulvin (brand names: Fulvicin®, Gris-Peg®, Grisovin®) is an antifungal used to treat ringworm and other skin, hair, and nail fungal infections in cats, dogs, small mammals, and horses. Griseofulvin is given by mouth in the form of a tablet or liquid suspension.

  • A heart murmur is an abnormal sound that originates from the heart valves and can be heard with a stethoscope skillfully placed over the heart valves.

  • Honey, topical (HoneyCure®, Medihoney®, Silver Honey®, L-Mesitran®, HoneyHeel®), is a medical-grade honey used in all animal species as an alternative or adjunctive therapy for skin conditions, including wounds due to injury and burn wounds.

  • Cracks may form in the horse's hoof wall, usually in a vertical direction, and either originate from the ground surface (sometimes called grass cracks) or, less commonly, from the coronary band (sometimes called sand cracks).

  • Abortion is the delivery of a dead foal and its placenta before an age at which the foal would have been able to survive independently. This is usually taken to be up to day 300-310 of gestation.

  • Hyaluronate sodium topical (brand names Hycoat®, Transcend®, others) is a topical liquid solution used in the management of wounds, ulcers, burns, and autograph procedures in cats, dogs, and horses. It provides moisture and a protective barrier to aid in wound healing.

  • Hydrocortisone otic is a steroid medication used to treat topical inflammation of the ears in pets. It is often combined with antibiotics and comes as a liquid solution applied within the ear canal.
